Our paper "Periods and Practicals: How to help your students" was published in Trends in Chemistry on the 24th of October 2023.

Periods are a practical barrier that can impact the academic progression of those who experience them, particularly in physically intensive courses such as chemistry degrees. As we work towards equality in education it is important to improve the environment for those with periods and providing easy access to free period products in bathrooms across educational institutions is a practical way to do this and reduce barriers to studying chemistry.

On the 24th of August, Josie and Manami presented on behalf of PERIODically at the Variety in Chemistry/Physics Higher Education Conference 2023, which was held at Durham University. They spoke about the journey to making this podcast and why it's so important!

We are grateful to everyone who went to watch the talk and who showed so much appreciation for this project! Thank you to ViCE/PHEC for giving us this opportunity and to Durham for hosting such a wonderful conference.

As a team, we are so incredibly proud of Manami and Josie who did an absolutely fantastic job!

We are delighted to announce that a second series of PERIODically is in development! In this second series we want to discuss more topics focused around the core question "How are different stages of a career affected by reproductive health?"

We hope to talk to people from a variety of institutions in all different stages of their careers and lives. We also want to be able to discuss topics that our initial focus group did not have the experience to properly address, such as the menopause, pregnancy, endometriosis and many more!

If you would like to contribute or share your stories and experiences please feel free to contact us by email or social media!
